The Small Stuff Matters More than you think

We talk a lot about "community" at forjacobsville.org, but community isn't just built in the big moments — it's built in the small, everyday ones.

It's waving when you pass someone on your walk, even if you don't know their name yet. It's grabbing a stray trash can lid that blew into the street and setting it back where it belongs. It's texting the family next door when their car alarm has been going off for twenty minutes while they're clearly not home.

None of these things take more than a minute. But they add up to something bigger: a street where people look out for each other instead of past each other.

This week, try one small thing. Introduce yourself to a neighbor you've never spoken to. Return a borrowed tool. Compliment someone's garden out loud instead of just thinking it. You might be surprised how far it goes.

What's a small neighborly gesture that made your day recently? Contact us by clicking the link below — we'd love to feature a few in next week's post.
